INFO VIBE3 2026 continues the artist’s investigation into digital capitalism and its technological mythologies. Rather than approaching Web3 merely as a set of technical protocols, the work considers it a “sociotechnical imaginary”: a narrative structure that organizes capital, attention, and collective desire through visions of the future. As Sheila Jasanoff and Sang-Hyun Kim suggest, imaginaries of technological progress often carry implicit assumptions about collective futures and social order. Through a linguistic mutation of Web3, VIBE3 reveals how a technological concept can be transformed into an affective form that can be circulated, consumed, and continually renewed.

The sociology of expectations argues that technological promises do not merely describe the future; they also mobilize resources, attract investment, and coordinate collective action in the present. When a technological narrative loses its practical force, its language, imagery, and affective structures do not necessarily disappear. Instead, they may detach themselves from their original object and re-enter the next cycle of technological imagination. VIBE3 2026 therefore concerns neither the success nor the failure of Web3, but the way technological belief continually renews itself through cycles of promise, hype, and disappointment: the revolution was never realized, but its visual system was.

INFO In MetaVoodoo 2026, the artist traces a series of “technological gospels” that have emerged throughout the development of the internet: from connecting the world and empowering everyone to create, to decentralization, digital ownership, and virtual worlds. Each technological wave produces its own keywords, icons, interfaces, and slogans, repeatedly promising an imminent future in different forms.

While these technological narratives appear to point toward different revolutions, they share a similar logic of production. New concepts continually overwrite older narratives; technological visions once pursued and believed in quickly recede, gradually settling into cultural residues beneath the next technological wave.

MetaVoodoo 2026 does not attempt to determine the success or failure of any particular technology. Instead, it examines a persistent cultural mechanism: technology continuously renews its names, images, and promotional language, while the belief that “the next technology will finally deliver the future” is repeatedly reactivated.

Crypto No Mercy 2026

INFO Crypto No Mercy began in 2022, at a time when cryptocurrency mining was rapidly expanding worldwide. The continuous operation of vast numbers of mining machines and facilities consumed enormous amounts of electricity, intensifying debates around energy, environmental impact, and resource distribution. Combining mining equipment, Bitcoin symbols, and industrial tools into an almost violent image of production, the work examined how the creation of virtual value depends upon energy consumption and material infrastructures in the physical world.

In Crypto No Mercy 2026, this contradiction has not disappeared but has been repackaged in a new form. Drawing on the real-life example of the Netherlands-based company Bitcoin Brabant, which uses waste heat from cryptocurrency mining to warm tulip greenhouses, the work imagines a futuristic product displayed at a technology trade fair: a machine capable of mining cryptocurrency while using the resulting heat to cultivate tulips. Within this single apparatus, the seventeenth-century tulip bubble encounters the twenty-first-century crypto economy, bringing finance, computing power, energy, and plant life together within an apparently efficient, circular, and sustainable production system.

“MINE. BURN. BLOOM.” functions both as the product’s promotional slogan and as the operating logic of the system. It translates resource consumption into growth, repackages mining waste heat as a new form of productivity, and transforms an environmental problem into a technological selling point that can be exhibited, promoted, and consumed. Rather than determining whether this technological solution genuinely resolves the problem, the work considers how technology and capital absorb the contradictions they produce, renaming crisis as innovation, circularity, and progress.

Fire@Data Center 2026

       5 Video Installations

Fire@Data Center 2026 examines technology as a cultural system shaped by infrastructure, capital, belief, and collective desire. Across five video installations, the series explores how technological narratives continually repackage material contradictions and reactivate failed promises of progress.

INFO Fire@Data Center 2026 revisits and expands upon Zhu Jinkun’s 2022 series of the same title. Emerging amid the rise of Web3, NFTs, and networked society, the earlier works examined the increasingly visible connections between virtual value and material production. By 2026, technological infrastructure no longer enters reality as something novel; it has become an underlying structure through which resources, value, identity, and collective imaginaries are organized. The series therefore shifts its attention from the changes brought about by technology to the ways technological systems continually rename, repackage, and circulate their own contradictions through ever-evolving narratives.
The series consists of five video installations: Crypto No Mercy 2026, MetaVoodoo 2026, VIBE3 2026, Cloud Command 2026, and Acting Intelligence 2026. Together, they approach technology as a cultural system composed of material infrastructure, commercial language, mechanisms of belief, and affective mobilization. Energy consumption can be reframed as ecological circulation; failed futures can return under new names; and the sensations of movement, direction, and progress can be manufactured in advance through narrative. Technology does not eliminate the contradictions embedded in reality. Instead, it continually provides them with new interfaces and more acceptable forms.

Here, the “data center” refers both to a physical node connecting energy, computation, capital, and labor, and to a model for understanding contemporary life. “Fire” no longer describes an external conflict between the real and the virtual, but an ongoing process of conversion, interference, and occupation between resources and value, promises and residues, intelligence and performance. We no longer stand outside the data center, observing how technology transforms the world; we already inhabit the reality it organizes. Rather than judging the success or failure of any particular technology, the series examines a recurring cultural mechanism: technology continually renews its names, images, and promotional languages, while the belief that “the next technology will finally deliver the future” is repeatedly reactivated.
